What it is

Premade volume fans in a W configuration – fibres that fan out into a wide, flat spread from a single bonded base. Compared with a YY fan, a W gives more visible width per fan and a softer, wispier edge, which is why it is sold as the natural-look option. Like all premade fans, the assembly is done at the factory rather than by the technician at the tray.

What to check before you buy

• Base bond quality. The entire performance of a premade fan is in its base. A thick, hard glue blob adds weight to the natural lash and shows as a visible dark dot at the lash line; a fine heat-bonded base does neither.
• Weight against the client’s natural lash. Fine natural lashes cannot carry heavy fans. This is the single most common cause of extension damage.
• Curl, thickness and length. Fan products should state all three. Volume fibres normally run 0.03mm to 0.07mm.
• Fan consistency across the tray. Uneven spread means the technician spends the appointment sorting rather than applying.
